no comments on the above post, so I thought I'd leave this here...you can delete it. Just wanted to throw in my support. People can be total punks in the blogosphere and the conversation linked? Yikes.
when I was in alaska, we used to have a category for women like Palin: BMW = Burly Mountain Woman. Not so unusual in alaska but extremely impressive in the lower 48.
Thanks, Anastasia! Really, the comments are off because I didn't want to check it obsessively just to SEE, and then get embroiled in, whatever anyone might have to say! Sooooo busy these days...
I like the "burly mountain women" thing. I have a post from a loooong time ago about the "peasant woman" image, which is how my diss director described me at the time--strap the baby to your back & go back into the fields, or whatever. I'm not strong & outdoorsy in that way, but I think there are a lot of us who are more or less multi-taking in similar ways, domestic sphere, public sphere, whatever. Caribou hunting is a bonus! ;) Although in Texas & Louisiana, there are plenty of, er, "sportswomen," too, it's just that it's a part of her image...

You're right, I did laugh. :) Thanks for that.
Hope all is well with you...seems like it's been a while since we've "talked"
Probably the most honest campaign ad I've seen yet :) Thanks for the laugh!
